Meet Linda Fitzsimmons

We’re excited to spotlight Linda Fitzsimmons, who is celebrating an incredible 39 years at Washington County Community College! Over nearly four decades, Linda has been a devoted and dependable advocate for students, ensuring they have the financial support needed to pursue their educational goals.

A Day in Linda’s Role

As the Director of Financial Aid, Linda’s day-to-day responsibilities include processing student FAFSA files, awarding federal Title IV student aid and scholarships, and providing emergency funding to help students overcome barriers — whether that’s daycare costs, books, or other financial challenges. She is dedicated to removing obstacles so that students can focus on their education.

What She Loves Most About WCCC

Linda is passionate about giving back and rewarding students who may not have the financial means to access higher education. She takes great pride in being part of their journey and making their academic dreams a reality.

Three Words to Describe Linda

Compassionate, Dedicated, and Supportive.

Outside of Work

When she’s not working to support students, Linda enjoys spending time on the lake with her husband and two dogs, Cooper and Savannah. She especially loves taking boat rides to relax and enjoy nature’s beauty.

Looking Toward the Future

As Linda reflects on the future of financial aid at WCCC, she remains focused on finding new resources and innovative solutions to support students. Whether it’s through initiatives like the Maine Free College Scholarship or securing additional institutional funding, Linda is committed to enhancing the student experience and providing every possible opportunity for success.
