Meet Cindy Moholland

We are excited to spotlight Cindy Moholland, a dedicated Business Management Instructor at Washington County Community College. Cindy has been an essential part of the WCCC family for a remarkable 25 years, including time spent working in administration before transitioning to teaching 14 years ago. Her passion for course development, student engagement, and real-world learning makes her a vital part of the faculty and an inspiration to her students.

A Day in Cindy’s Role

Cindy’s favorite part of teaching is designing engaging learning experiences that truly connect with her students. She especially enjoys working with motivated and curious learners, crafting lessons that are both meaningful and relevant to their interests and goals. Cindy values the relationships she builds with students and finds great satisfaction in helping them grow both academically and personally.

What Makes Cindy’s Program Stand Out

Cindy’s Business Management program emphasizes real-world, hands-on learning. She takes time to understand each student’s background and interests, using that knowledge to personalize assignments and classroom discussions. This approach not only keeps students engaged but also helps them see the direct relevance of their education to the world outside the classroom. Internships are a key part of the program and a graduation requirement, giving students valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge in professional settings. Cindy also organizes unique learning experiences, such as visits to local businesses and workshops that connect students directly with entrepreneurs and hiring professionals. Recent experiences include a TikTok for Business workshop, a panel discussion on hiring practices, and a visit to the Machias General Store to explore their point-of-sale system.

Cindy’s Journey with Education

Cindy’s connection to WCCC runs deep—she is an alum who earned two associate degrees and a certificate from the college. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Machias and a master’s degree from Thomas College. Her educational journey is a testament to lifelong learning, and she brings that same passion and commitment to the classroom every day.

Outside of Work

Outside the classroom, Cindy is a proud baseball mom and loves watching her son play. Baseball is a big part of her family life. She also enjoys playing pickleball and gardening in her free time, hobbies that reflect her active and hands-on lifestyle.

Three Words to Describe Cindy

Loves to Laugh, Kind-Hearted, Knowledgeable.

Looking Toward the Future

Cindy’s vision for the future of the Business Management program includes expanding learning opportunities outside the classroom. She plans to offer more field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on workshops to give students direct exposure to business practices and community leadership. Her goal is to provide transformative learning experiences that help students connect theory with practice and prepare for successful careers.
