Lucy Jolley’s Journey to Becoming an Author
CALAIS, ME – Lucy Jolley achieved an impressive milestone by graduating early from high school with her HiSet credential. Motivated by the Maine Free Community College Scholarship, she was eager to kickstart her higher education journey ahead of schedule. At just 16 years old, Lucy balanced a full-time job while completing her high school courses online. This initiative not only allowed her to gain valuable work experience but also paved the way for her current educational pursuits. Currently, Lucy is taking Liberal Studies courses at Washington County Community College and the Free Community College Scholarship is allowing her to work towards her associate degree without the burden of student loans. This opportunity is invaluable, as it allows her and many other students to focus on their studies and scholarship opportunities without the stress of accumulating debt.
Support & Independence
Thanks to her determination and the support of her family, Lucy was able to save for a car, which further enhanced her independence. While her family supports her unconditionally, Lucy was motivated to avoid the guilt associated with having her parents pay for her college education. This desire for self-reliance played a crucial role in her decision to graduate high school early and take advantage of the Free Community College opportunity.
