Amy Mayhew, TRiO Administrative Specialist

Meet Amy Mayhew

Welcome to our new series where we highlight the dedicated faculty and staff at Washington County Community College (WCCC). Our first spotlight shines on Amy Mayhew, a valued member of our community who has been with the college for almost two years. Amy is the Administrative Specialist III for the TRIO program, which is funded through the TRIO grant.

Amy’s Role at WCCC

In her role, Amy’s day-to-day responsibilities are diverse and essential, including entering data for TRIO students, directing students to necessary resources, proctoring tests, managing schedules, and creating social media ensuring that students and the community are kept informed about TRIO-related activities and news.

A Passion for Connection

Amy is known for her vibrant personality and warm demeanor. What truly sets Amy apart is her love for interaction. Amy adores talking to everyone who visits the teaching and learning center for excellence and is known for her ever-present big smile. She finds immense joy in helping students grow and overcome their barriers, making her an invaluable resource at WCCC. Amy describes herself as caring, positive, and quirky.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of her professional life, Amy is an outdoor enthusiast who particularly enjoys hiking. Her creative side comes alive in her passion for crafting, likening herself to a “mad scientist in a lab.” Recently, she discovered a new love for wood burning, a project she is passionately exploring. Having lived in five different states, Amy appreciates the diverse beauty in how different people live.

Always Ready to Help

Amy wants everyone at WCCC to know that she is never too busy to assist or answer questions. This accessibility and willingness to help are, according to Amy, the most rewarding aspects of her job. Her future goals at the college include expanding her reach to assist more students who might be hesitant to ask for help, as she believes that seeking assistance is a vital step toward personal and academic growth.

Thank You, Amy!

Thank you, Amy, for all that you do to help students at Washington County Community College. We appreciate you!
