Washington County Community College Names Darren Michael Yocum as Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Resident Director

Calais, Maine – Washington County Community College (WCCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Darren Michael Yocum as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Resident Director. Yocum brings a dynamic blend of coaching success and higher education leadership to WCCC’s growing athletics and student life programs.
Yocum joins WCCC from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where he most recently served as an assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiter. His coaching resume spans more than a decade and includes head coaching positions at the high school and AAU levels, where his teams earned numerous tournament titles and players secured college scholarships and all-conference honors.
In addition to his coaching experience, Yocum has held executive roles in higher education, including Associate Chief Information Officer for the Maine Community College System and Assistant Vice President for Information Technology Services at Washington State University.
“Darren’s passion for mentorship, combined with his coaching accomplishments and commitment to student development, make him an outstanding addition to our community,” said Dr. Tyler Stoldt, Acting Athletic Director and Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services at WCCC. “We are excited for the future of Golden Eagles women’s basketball and the positive impact Darren will have on our student-athletes both on and off the court.”
As Resident Director, Yocum will also oversee student residential life, supporting student engagement and success in WCCC’s on-campus housing.
