Washington County Community College Students Named to 2025 All-Maine Academic Team
CALAIS, Maine — Washington County Community College (WCCC) proudly announces that Chelsey Megquier and Jordyn Bray have been named to the prestigious All-Maine Academic Team for 2025. The All-Maine Academic Team recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement among community college students statewide.
Chelsey Megquier, a resident of Calais, Maine, is pursuing an Associate Degree in Business Management. Chelsey maintains an impressive 3.8 GPA and has been recognized on the college Dean’s List and President’s List. She received the 2023–2024 Instructor’s Choice Award and actively supports fellow students by partnering with TRIO Student Support Services to address textbook affordability issues, guiding peers toward free educational resources such as Cengage and OpenStax. Chelsey serves as a dedicated tutor in mathematics, business, and Microsoft courses, where she is known for her enthusiastic, compassionate, and nonjudgmental support, enriching students’ academic and personal growth. Her instructor Rhonda French specifically highlighted Chelsey’s proactive leadership, initiative to tackle textbook affordability, and genuine warmth that builds community and fellowship. Additionally, TRIO Advisor Pamela Feeney praised Chelsey’s exceptional tutoring skills, empathetic approach to student support, and ability to connect deeply with students facing academic and personal challenges. Driven by her commitment to family and community, Chelsey plans to continue her education at Husson University, aiming for a bachelor’s degree in accounting and eventually a master’s in business administration.
Jordyn Bray, from Springfield, Maine, is pursuing an Associate Degree in Education, demonstrating outstanding academic performance with a 3.9 GPA. Jordyn actively works as a Special Education Ed Tech I at Mattanawcook Junior High School in Lincoln, Maine. Jordyn completed a rigorous education internship, developing and delivering lesson plans tailored to diverse learning needs. His internship advisor, Linda Levesque, praised his thoughtful approach, curiosity, fairness, humor, and inclusiveness in working with students. Additionally, Jordyn has earned his Behavioral Health Professional certificate and regularly engages in professional development opportunities. Education instructor Melinda Reynolds commended Jordyn’s dedication, predicting significant achievements in his future as an educator. Jordyn will transfer to the UMaine Augusta to complete a bachelor’s degree in education, aspiring eventually to serve as a school principal.
Dr. Tyler Stoldt, Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services and PTK advisor, praised both students, stating, “Chelsey and Jordyn truly embody the Phi Theta Kappa ideals of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. As someone who personally benefited from Phi Theta Kappa during my own community college journey, I recognize their tremendous accomplishments and am confident they will continue to make significant impacts in their fields and communities.”
Both Chelsey and Jordyn exemplify academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to improving their communities through education and service. Their recognition on the All-Maine Academic Team underscores their extraordinary dedication and contributions both within and beyond their college community. “Chelsey and Jordyn are outstanding examples of the incredible student body we have here at WCCC. The All-Maine Academic Team program is part of the national Phi Theta Kappa honor society initiative, spotlighting the most accomplished students from community colleges nationwide. Megquier and Bray will be formally recognized for their outstanding academic and community achievements at the Phi Theta Kappa induction ceremony on April 30th at 5:30pm in the Assembly Room on the WCCC campus.
