WCCC Leader Selected for National Equity Leadership Academy
Calais, ME – Tyler Stoldt, Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services, has been selected as one of twenty-five vice presidents and executive-level student affairs leaders across the United States to join the 2023-2024 cohort of the Equity Leadership Academy hosted by NASPA and the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center.
“Along with human resources, budgeting, supervision, and change management skills that vice presidents learn over time through study and experience, racial literacy demands the same level of investment in learning for leaders, staff, and students,” said USC Race and Equity Center Founder and Executive Director Dr. Shaun Harper in a statement. “The Equity Leadership Academies provide an opportunity for VPs to learn about race and racial equity in a way they haven’t learned elsewhere.”
The Equity Leadership Academy brings together a cohort of executive-level student affairs leaders to learn from one another and from higher education equity scholars and practitioners through a yearlong academy in which participants will work in small groups on a specific institutional challenge or opportunity. During December, Stoldt will attend an introductory in-person academy session in Washington, D.C., followed by monthly engagement with the cohort through virtual meetings. Sessions will address the salience of race, racial equity, and racism in higher education; ideological discourses and frameworks; strategic planning, action, and communication; managing and resolving racial tensions in the workplace; data, accountability, and incentives for advancing equity goals; and retaining and advancing diverse teams.
